Amy Williams MBE
Amy Williams hurtled to stardom in 2010 when she won gold in the skeleton event at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Speeding into the record books
Amy switched from running to snow sports when she discovered the bobsleigh training facility at the University of Bath. It was a smart move; after placing second at the World Student Games and World Junior Championships, Amy pushed on to land the silver medal at the 2009 World Championships. But the best was yet to come.
At the 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Amy kept her nerve as she shot down the fastest toboggan on the planet. She made the 1,450m descent in 53.68 seconds, breaking the track record by 0.15 seconds.
Today, Amy is a motivational speaker, sports commentator and TV presenter.
